Vacant Dwelling Now Available on the CARL Comparative Rater

Houston, Texas, October 16, 2018 – We have exciting news! Myron Steves is pleased to announce the launch of another product on our CARL comparative rater. In addition to having access to Contents in Mini-Storage, Personal Liability, Residential Flood and Commercial General Liability and Property, agents can now process comparative indications and request quotes, cancellations and reinstatements for Vacant Dwelling risks. The product has been integrated with DocuSign so that the Insured’s signatures can be easily obtained. CARL is the Myron Steves online portal where policy documents are stored and organized for easy access. Agents can quote risks, get indications, pay bills, submit and manage claims, and access carrier raters. If you have any questions about the CARL system, contact support@myronsteves.com.


Becky Thomson has been added to the Executive Team at Myron Steves

Houston, Texas, October 1, 2018 – Becky Thomson has been added to the Executive Team at Myron Steves. In addition to her existing responsibilities, Becky will lend her experience and competence in helping guide the direction of the company and making big picture decisions to ensure Myron Steves’ success into the future.

As Director of Healthcare Becky provides oversight to the Healthcare and Educators Liability departments. She has been responsible for managing account and client relationships, negotiating contracts with the insurance market place, educating internal staff and external clients and developing solutions that effectively address the risk exposure of healthcare clients. She has been successful in growing the appetite of the department from predominantly large healthcare systems to a more diverse portfolio in order to evolve with the needs of the healthcare market. One of the key reasons for her success is her strong relationships within the underwriting community and her ability to assimilate received information into a persuasive tool to successfully manage outcomes.

Prior to joining Myron Steves Becky worked with a retail agency managing and marketing healthcare professional liability accounts. Previous experience in the healthcare field includes managing a group of optical clinics across multiple states. Becky is member of the Insurance Association Managers of Cayman (IMAC), the Greater Houston Society for Healthcare Risk Management (GHSHRM), and the Professional Liability Underwriting Society (PLUS).

Jennifer Flake has joined Myron Steves as Director of Transportation

Dallas, Texas, September 9, 2018 – Jennifer Flake has joined Myron Steves as Director of Transportation. She will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the firm’s transportation business including the long-haul trucking, business auto and garage segments. Building on Steves’ strengths as one of the most respected underwriters in Texas, Jennifer will expand its brokerage capabilities, grow relationships with various carriers and actively produce business to help agents meet their clients’ needs in the increasingly challenging transportation market.

Jennifer joins Myron Steves with over 15 years of experience as a transportation specialist. She has worked for insurance companies, wholesalers and insurance agents during the course of her career. Most recently, she worked for Southwest Risk, LP and, prior to that, AmWINS Group, Inc.

Jennifer received a Bachelor of Business Administration from East Tennessee State University in 1996. She will based in the Dallas/Fort Worth area but plans to be on the road extensively meeting with agents and working with staff in Houston.

Amanda Tilford joins Myron Steves as Manager of Claims

Houston, Texas, August 27, 2018 – Amanda Tilford has joined Myron Steves to lead the company's claims operations. She will be responsible for operating the claims processing unit, including the timely and proper disposition of claims in accordance with bound coverage. She will oversees insurance claims on loss based coverage, appraisal, and verifiable damage. Amanda will ensure complete and sound claim settlements, legal reviews and investigations in accordance with Myron Steves policies and procedures.

Amanda joined Myron Steves in August 2018 after several successful years working for Nationwide E&S Specialty (formally, Scottsdale Insurance Company) as a Claims Adjuster, where she had a proven track record of investigating and determining liability, evaluating coverage, reviewing 3rd party contracts and diligent handling customer service. Amanda’s career with Nationwide E&S Specialty also included experience in Underwriting as both a Brokerage Underwriting Assistant as well as Operations with Underwriting Support. Prior to beginning her Insurance Career with Nationwide E&S Specialty, Amanda was an Enrollment Advisor with the University of Phoenix.

Amanda is a licensed claims adjuster in Arizona, Florida, Oklahoma, Texas and Wyoming.

Amanda received her Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science from Northern Arizona University.


Greg Rubel joins Myron Steves as Chief Underwriting Officer, Commercial Lines

Houston, Texas, February 20, 2018 – Greg Rubel has joined Myron Steves as Chief Underwriting Officer, Commercial Lines. Greg will lead the company’s commercial lines operations and be a member of the Leadership Team, which is responsible for the management of the company.

Greg brings more than 25 years’ experience with prominent insurance carriers to the new role. Expertise from the carrier side of the industry will enable the company to improve the customer experience by analyzing and optimizing processes, maintaining the building blocks for excellent carrier relationships and developing new programs as demanded by the marketplace.

Greg has developed and grown two regional operations within Markel, as well as a traditional binding operation for Westchester, a Chubb company, from scratch. His entrepreneurial tendency will serve Myron Steves’ goal of strengthening and growing the company’s commercial lines operations.

Greg has used his expansive knowledge to give back to the industry by instructing CE courses and presenting on various current event topics to industry groups. This enthusiasm for education, professional growth and industry improvement aligns well with Myron Steves’ longstanding reputation for dedication to education.

Paul Martin Joins Myron Steves In San Antonio

Houston, Texas, September 11, 2017 – Paul Martin, CPCU, has joined Myron F. Steves and Company as Director of Education and Development. Paul will also oversee the Company’s operations in San Antonio.

Paul’s wide-ranging experience will further Myron Steves’ continuing commitment to professional development and the delivery of critical resources to the independent insurance agents that the Company serves.

Paul’s most recent experience as VP of Agency Sales at TrustedChoice.com afforded him the opportunity to advise independent agents throughout the United States and will enhance the Company’s ability to provide strategic perspective to agents and excellent customer service to insureds.

Paul developed extensive knowledge and expertise while operating his own company, PZ Martin Education Strategies, where he designed and delivered customized continuing education for insurance agents and brokers as well as specialty insurers.

Paul has also served as the Director of Education and CE Programs Manager for IIAT, and AVP of Staff Development for Texas Mutual.
